Design Details
The installation featured 42 panes of glass with custom printed films, including 12 panes with a white gradient, 24 panes with a striped privacy pattern, and 6 panes coated with 3M Dichroic Blaze film. Additionally, PCR 2 films printed with white and multi-colored inks were used, with multi-colored inks visible from both interior and exterior elevators, achieved through three layers of ink. The Dichroic film produced a striking, color-shifting effect, while the gradients and stripes combined functionality with visual appeal, transforming the SickKids Hospital gymnasium into a dynamic and inviting space.

Collaboration & Impact
To enhance the design and functionality of SickKids Hospital’s new Patient Support Centre, Redspire Architectural Glass partnered with Convenience Group to deliver a custom glass installation that balances aesthetics with purpose. The challenge was to create a dynamic, visually engaging space within the gymnasium that reflects the innovation and care at the heart of the facility.
Convenience Group’s expertise in precision installations and specialty films led to the use of custom printed graphics and 3M Dichroic Blaze film, known for its striking color-shifting effect. The collaboration helped SickKids create a space that promotes healing, encourages movement, and reflects the hospital’s commitment to patient well-being and design excellence.
